The Maker of Things, February 20, 2022
History shows that most people were a maker of something or another. Tools in which to do work, clothing for our backs, to rugs to keep the floors warm. One could not simply go to the store to purchase what they required. Today, we have a 'throw away' mentality because we can so easily go and purchase whatever it is that is needed.
When something breaks or doesn't work correctly, a lot of us, myself included, would not take the time to 'figure out' how to fix it, we throw it...
Are You In a Rug Hooking Slump? February 13, 2022
Last week, Joan asked what I do to get out of a rug hooking slump? Basically you are not feeling like rug hooking, don't have a project that is inspiring you? Don't feel like rug hooking, just not in the mood? Could be these reasons or many more. I think it correlates to the time of year it is. February has long days of darkness, and here in the Maritimes, the coldest time of the year. We are not connected to other rug hookers in person due to continued restrictions of...
Pete and Repeat, February 06, 2022
The Pete and Repeat rhyme came to mind when shoveling snow yesterday, for what seems like the millionth time (no exaggeration there huh?). The above picture was looking out my front dome window Friday night and you can see that my car is almost buried! I knew the next day lots of shoveling was in my future. We certainly got a load of it.
No rug hooking update from me on my projects, I haven't been able to pick up my hook at all. I have been busy though dyeing wool...
Winter Wonderland, January 30, 2022
My friends have heard me say a few times, if it is winter and it is going to be cold, we my as well have the snow to go with it! We've had a total of 3 Nor'easter snow storms in the last month. Lots of shoveling and yes I hurt all over from it. I love seeing children play outside in the snow.
The Rug Hooking Community lost another dear lady this week, Beverley Sheppard. Bev had such a positive attitude about her continued struggle with Cancer. She fought with...
Baby It's COLD Outside, January 23, 2022
I'm not sure who originally wrote and sang the song, 'Baby It's Cold Outside' but I know it got some attention a few years ago and some radio stations stopped playing the song due to complaints from listeners. I know for sure here in Nova Scotia, it is darn COLD outside so that song popped into my head. The sunrises though are beautiful and I caught one this week above.
No further updates on a hooking project for me (hanging head...lol). I have been very busy dyeing wool for customers though...
