We are in the middle of winter and so far I think we've faired pretty well regarding snow. We haven't had much to date. The above photo was taken from the car on our way home from Buctouche, NB yesterday. This particular inlet, fishing shacks (tents usually) are set up. See below. I wonder what sort of fish they are trying to catch?
The Northport Loopers handed out 'paper bags' of surprises before Christmas and has challenged us to use what was in the bag to create a rug. We didn't have to use it all but at least some and whatever else you wanted of your own wool. The below photo is what I picked with the addition of a brooch which is in my piece, second photo. This was fun to do. We will be hosting a rug display at Northport in July of this year so stay tuned for that.
There is another project I decided to participate in for the Trinity United Church, Botwood, NL. They are celebrating 100 years and wanted to challenge rug hookers from all over to make a cushion for the pews. I wasn't able to participate in the Grand Barachois, NB cushion challenge so I wanted to ensure I got involved in this one for NL. They are looking for 100 cushions and if you can get involved it will be greatly appreciated. If you can get involved, contact Vida by email at ch.black@hotmail.com. Below is my cushion cover, just the insert and backing to do. Vicky Comeau designed pattern.
Lynne Lines has finished her challenge rug, she decided to make a head band based on her granddaughters suggestion. Great idea! Great job and a couple of photos as that side button is so cute.
I have been seeing embroidery a lot on Facebook lately and anyone who knows me, knows I do not like sewing of any sort. So why should I think I needed an embroidery kit? Lord knows but I have several now to do and lots of new stitches to learn to do. Below is the Mandela that 'talked to me and said buy me buy me'. So far I am actually enjoying this. Wonders never cease to amaze me. An old dog can learn new tricks! Stay tuned!
In the mail this week; Shelley Myers had forwarded me this lovely rug prior to Christmas and I forgot to include in my previous blog, hopefully she will forgive me! Beautiful rug, pattern by Shelley and I love the little faces in a few of the circles. So pretty.
Have a great week everyone and stay warm.
Lots of different and beautiful artwork! Love them all! Great work everybody!
Enjoyed your blog,Happy New Year,everyone.
