Celebrating Rug Hooking

Every time we gather with rug hookers, it feels like a celebration.  We support each other, listen to each other (most times), laugh together, create together and generally just have a good time.  We often say, we are so blessed to be having such a great time in this wonderful craft called Rug Hooking.

The above photo is of a lovely little tea towel my sister Dianne gave me.  My granddaughter Sophie calls me Mimi and she loves to bake with me so the towel is perfect! Yes I decorated this weekend for Christmas, tree is up, not decorated yet, Christmas lights outside, check! I just love this time of year!

One of the ladies in our group, Vicky Comeau, opened her own studio from her home in Fort Lawrence, Vicky Comeau Designs, 1912 Fort Lawrence Road, Amherst, NS. Such a beautiful studio, you seriously should check her out!  Photo below of this pretty lady.

Below is what I have done from a three day rug hooking course I was on this week with Linda Marchbank called Winter Wonder.  It was a fun class to learn lots of different stitches that can be used in Rug Hooking.

I started my fall leaf pattern by Diane Benoit.  My plan is to hook it all in over dyed texture and plaids.

These lovely ladies visited my studio Saturday from Truro.  Left to right, Joanne, Heather, Sally and Sheila.

In the mail this week; I don't have any customer completed rugs to show you this week.

Have a great week everyone, 5 more weekends to Christmas!

  • Great blog this week ! Loved seeing Vicky’s studio and agree with your comments about how supportive the rug hooking community is . The winter scene is coming along beautifully ! Love the way you’ve pinned the little pieces of wool onto the leaves pattern to avoid confusion . Great tip .Nice pic of Sally & the gang .So much great news to inspire us . :)
